H&C Metals, Inc. Assists Local School with Recycling Fund Raiser
The Ironbound Catholic Academy, located in Newark, recently completed their 2014 Eight Grade Fund Raiser. From Sept. 2013 through May 2014, students were engaged in a recycling program in which they placed used Aluminum Beverage Cans (“UBC’s”) in designated boxes in each classroom. The cans were collected daily for recycling. The Academy approached H&C Metals in August 2013 to inquire as to whether H&C would be interested in partnering with the school by accepting & buying the scrap cans. H&C agreed to provide the Academy with weight tickets as students periodically delivered cans, maintain on-going records of received cans and pay the Academy a price equal to the price H&C would realize from selling directly to a large aluminum Mill for recycling. The Catholic Academy 8th graders collected 500 lbs. of cans!
H&C is proud to participate in local community service efforts like this which benefit a school, its students and the environment.
